The Strange Sands: Forest was the second release in Secret Lair’s Chaos Vault, experimenting with an unusual way of selling basic lands by separating an entire cycle into individual drops. Each release contained ten copies of a single basic land, allowing players to choose their preferred artwork rather than purchasing the full cycle. Scott Balmer illustrated the lands with surreal, otherworldly scenes that gave the Forest a distinctly unusual interpretation of a familiar card type.
