Tragic Romance brought an art director’s love of romantasy into Magic: The Gathering, turning a fanfic-inspired story into a collection of dramatic fantasy artwork. Artist Abigail Larson illustrated the commissioned scenes, depicting a doomed romance between powerful and imposing figures in her distinctive gothic style. The release stood out for its unusually personal origin, transforming an office obsession with romantasy and an original fan-created story into an official Secret Lair.
