Secret Lair x Monster Hunter: The Monsters Foil Edition
December 1, 2025
Secret Lair x Monster Hunter: The Monsters was originally announced as a crossover built around iconic Monster Hunter creatures reimagined within Magic: The Gathering. The release was ultimately postponed after Wizards of the Coast acknowledged that the initial version fell short in areas including card selection and its integration of Monster Hunter’s world and mechanics. Its unusual history as a Secret Lair that was pulled before release and slated for a complete rework made the original announcement a notable part of the collaboration’s story.

Secret Lair Cards
Rathalos, King of the Skies (Drakuseth, Maw of Flames)
Flying
Whenever Drakuseth attacks, it deals 4 damage to any target and 3 damage to each of up to two other targets.
Lagiacrus, Lord of the Seas (Nezahal, Primal Tide)
This spell can't be countered.
You have no maximum hand size.
Whenever an opponent casts a noncreature spell, draw a card.
Discard three cards: Exile Nezahal. Return it to the battlefield tapped under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step.
Zinogre, Lord of Lightning (Sarulf, Realm Eater)
Whenever a permanent an opponent controls is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on Sarulf.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if Sarulf has one or more +1/+1 counters on it, you may remove all of them. If you do, exile each other nonland permanent with mana value less than or equal to the number of counters removed this way.
Nergigante, Herald of Destruction (Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire)
Flying
Whenever Vaevictis Asmadi attacks, for each player, choose target permanent that player controls. Those players sacrifice those permanents. Each player who sacrificed a permanent this way reveals the top card of their library, then puts it onto the battlefield if it's a permanent card.
Fatalis, the Black Dragon (Ziatora, the Incinerator)
Flying
At the beginning of your end step, you may sacrifice another creature. When you do, Ziatora deals damage equal to that creature's power to any target and you create three Treasure tokens.
Bonus Card
Given the rarity and limited information on some bonus cards, this may not be a complete list of all potential bonus cards available in this Secret Lair.
