Toby's Journey by Gary Baseman brought the personal world of artist Gary Baseman into Magic: The Gathering through Toby, his long-running character and creative companion. The collection followed Toby through themes of discovery, farewell, friendship, and return, with Baseman’s warm traditional artwork accompanied by original flavor text. Its focus on a single beloved character and Baseman’s deeply personal artistic style made the release feel more like a small illustrated story than a conventional Secret Lair.
