Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Desolation explored the darker side of Bilbo’s journey, moving beyond the safety of the Shire into Mirkwood, the Lonely Mountain, and the dangers that awaited along the road. Artwork by Pig Hands, Scott Okumura, Septian Fajrianto, Zbigniew M. Bielak, Raf/Too Many Skulls, and DZO gave the collection a fierce, tour-poster-inspired aesthetic, with each scene emphasizing the threats and darkness surrounding the adventure. Its contrast with the lighter Hobbit-themed releases made it a particularly striking collectible within the larger The Hobbit Secret Lair series.
